A comfort fit ring is "convex" so less surface area touches the skin making it more comforatble and easier to take on and off the finger. A regular fit is flat causing more surface area of the ring to touch the finger, so you are more likely to feel the edges as well as more resistance when taking the ring on and off the finger.
